Watch episode 6 of The Cosmetics Conspiracy: The Podcast. How far does the regulation of ingredients in cosmetics go, and what misleading claims are often made? "All cosmetic brands must comply with EU laws and regulations, only ingredients that have been proven safe may be used in cosmetics"

Both Barbara and Heleen are often confronted with the fear that lives among consumers regarding the reliability of ingredients. The easiest way is to refer to published scientific research and the publications of the EU, to answer the questions.

"An ingredients list doesn't say much about the effectiveness of a product"

"A list of ingredients is mainly an easy tool to assess a product, but that is not how it works. You cannot determine the effectiveness of a product based on a list of ingredients, nor can you determine whether the product is suitable for your skin type. Apps cannot assess a product as good or bad based on the INCI list."
