Who does our DNA analysis? Who is Baseclear?

BASECLEAR X NOMIGE

Our DNA analyses are done in a genetics lab in the Netherlands, called 'Baseclear '. We were lucky enough to ask some questions to the CEO & Founder of Baseclear, Bas Reichert and the Senior Sales & Account Manager, Evelien Zeinstra.

WHO IS BASECLEAR?

Baseclear is a DNA service laboratory . Nowadays it is called genomics, the broad field of DNA research. They do DNA research on behalf of third parties. Their clients are mostly industrial companies: both small and large companies that choose Baseclear because of the quality of their DNA research.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE DNA SAMPLES?

Nomige sends the samples to Baseclear by traceable mail. When the samples arrive at Baseclear, they are inspected and checked, after which they go to the laboratory. Here, the samples are further processed (e.g. DNA extraction and purification) and the DNA testing is started.

After examination, the results are sent to Nomige via a secure portal and connection.

HOW DOES FOOD OR DRINK AFFECT THE ANALYSIS OF A DNA SAMPLE?

The influence of food and drink when taking a smear is certainly relevant. Because if there is food in the smear, it can inhibit the DNA analysis. Make sure that both the smear and your mouth are as clean as possible (you do not have to be fasting!) so that the DNA analysis can be successful.

HOW IMPORTANT IS GDPR FOR BASECLEAR?

Data security, GDPR or AVG regulations are an extremely important part. After all, it is someone's DNA. Everything is therefore anonymized and the data is sent to customers in a secure, encrypted way. Baseclear was one of the first laboratories to achieve the ISO 27.001 standard because they are working on data security at a very high level. It is also extremely important for Nomige that we can guarantee this security to our customers.

WHAT'S SO NICE ABOUT WORKING WITH NOMIGE?

"It's so much fun to work with Nomige. A young entrepreneur who is passionate about her company. That reminds me of myself when I started this company 25 years ago as a young entrepreneur and has since grown into what it is today. And I wish her all the best. We try to support Nomige because I have a heart for those kinds of young entrepreneurs," says CEO Bas Reichert.

"And what makes Nomige different," adds Senior Account Manager Evelien Zeinstra, "is that we have set up something unique for Nomige." "Barbara came up with a proposal for tests that did not actually exist yet. We then worked out the genetic test together. And of course it is also very nice to see how a small startup develops and grows." All this makes Nomige special, fun and unique.
