Protect your skin against wind and rain
In the summer we protect our skin extra against the sun. But what do we do with our skin now that autumn and winter are just around the corner? Rain, wind, large temperature differences... They are all harmful elements for our skin. Our facial skin in particular has a hard time. Now that it's getting colder, some things have to change in the way you take care of your skin and body.
Is the wind, rain and cold bad for your skin?
Autumn is often changeable and is accompanied by temperature fluctuations. The last sunny days can quickly turn into winter precipitation. Cold weather, wind and low humidity have a drying effect on the skin. External factors can also cause the natural lipids in the skin to be greatly reduced. The natural lipids normally ensure that the skin does not dry out too much. But when these are affected or present in lesser numbers, the skin can dry out, flakes, chaps or redness can occur. Your skin is weakened and it feels like it's about to tear. Your skin needs extra care!
What can you do to protect your skin?
1. THE RIGHT CREAM
Select a moisturizing cream , preferably an oil-based cream rather than a water-based one. You can feel this in the texture of the cream, oil-based creams often feel 'richer'. Also choose a cream that is suitable for your skin. Everyone is unique, and this also applies to our skin. That is something we always take into account with Nomige. Do your lifestyle test and see what needs your skin currently has. Do you want a thorough analysis that does not change over time? Then do a DNA test .

2. USE A SHOWER OIL AND APPLY IMMEDIATELY AFTER SHOWERING/BATHING
Use a shower oil without soap to cleanse your skin. An oil nourishes your skin and respects a natural balance. It also ensures that your skin remains better protected against drying elements throughout the day. When you apply a moisturizer to skin that is still warm and post-steaming, the cream will penetrate much better and retain moisture. This will make your cream work much more effectively.
3. SHOWER WITH LUKEWARM WATER
On cold days we try to warm up with a hot, steamy bath and regain some moisture. But what we don't realize is that a hot shower or bath actually removes water from our skin through osmosis. In addition, both the heat of the water and the water itself removes the naturally moisturizing lipids from our skin. Showering or bathing for too long and too hot is therefore not conducive to your skin and can result in dry skin. Therefore, choose a short shower with warm but not too hot water more regularly.
4. MOISTURIZE FROM THE INSIDE
It is not only important to moisturize the skin from the outside with creams, but also from the inside. You can do this by drinking enough water in the autumn and winter months. Eating foods with a high water content can also help. Examples of these foods are: oranges, apples, watermelon, kiwis and vegetables with a detoxifying effect such as celery, cucumbers, carrots.
5. HUMIDIFICATION
When the central heating is on, the air is often drier. Low humidity in the home is typical for the cold winter months. Therefore, a humidifier can help to restore humidity. This can be especially useful in the bedroom since you spend many hours here while sleeping. This will help your skin recover during the night.
6. CHANGE YOUR CLEANSER
Some cleansing products can do more harm than good to the skin. They are meant to remove dirt and make-up, but in the meantime they also wash away skin lipids , which causes the skin to dry out. That is why it is important that your product is mild. The Nomige cleansing products consist of a 2-in-1 cleanser (a moisturizing cleansing milk that can be used with or without water) and an exfoliating tonic to gently remove dead skin cells.
