What face cream is good for an oily skin

Do you have oily skin?
Oily skin can be unpleasant. In addition, many people with oily skin struggle to choose the right skin care products . That is why Nomige has selected the most important principles and tips for this skin type.

Read more about it in this blog.

Oily skin type

People with oily skin often have a shiny forehead or shiny nose and can regularly suffer from pimples. Oily skin types also tend to have larger, more visible pores.

Your body produces sebum (oil) to keep your skin soft and supple, but when too much sebum is produced, it can lead to acne flare-ups and shiny skin. Hormones play an important role in this process. The more androgens there are, the more sebum is produced. The sebum then settles on the surface of the skin, causing a glowing, shiny skin. Some people see their oily skin fade over time, especially after the end of puberty. Unfortunately, that is not the case for everyone.

DONT'S

A typical (bad!) habit of people with oily skin is the use of aggressive skin care products (for example, alcohol in skin care products, scrubs ...), which lead to dehydration of the skin . This gives people the feeling that the problem is solved because the skin feels less oily and dry in the short term. Drying out the skin stimulates the sebaceous glands to make even more sebum. So in the end there is even a higher sebum production than before . In addition, products that dehydrate the skin are very harmful to your skin barrier ; they break down our natural protective layer. It is therefore better to use mild products.

DO'S

MORNING ROUTINE

1) Refresh your face with lukewarm water to open the pores

2) Then repeat with cold water to close your pores again

3) We recommend using a rich and non-comedogenic day cream to minimize pores and control sebum production. It is a misconception that only light textures, watery creams or gels are good for oily skin. Don't be afraid to use a day cream that feels 'richer', it's even better for oily skin types. We can explain this with the principle of ' reverse psychology ': adding more lipids to your cream (so a richer cream) creates a negative feedback loop , which communicates to your skin to produce less sebum.

4) When applying make-up: keep it to a minimum . People with oily skin have a habit of using (a lot of) make-up to hide pimples and impurities. As a result, your pores are closed and more pimples can appear. The start of a vicious circle. If you use makeup, choose natural and non-comedogenic products whenever possible.

EVENING ROUTINE

1) Cleanse your skin with a mild oil or milk and exfoliating tonic. A good evening cleansing routine is crucial for healthy and radiant skin. If you don't cleanse your skin properly, dirt and makeup will clog your pores. That leads to inflammation, pimples and acne.

2) Use a purifying mask occasionally

3) Keep your skin hydrated at night with a nourishing moisturizer . At night, the skin is more permeable in two directions (water from the inside out - active substances from the outside in). Hence the importance of a night cream with high-quality active ingredients. It is wrong to think that a thick cream is better at night. This coats the skin and forms a layer on the skin, which can lead to 'lazy' skin. Your skin's biological processes (which are extremely important at night) are no longer stimulated. So a light texture is sufficient!
